Young Leaders Programme 2024

The fourth ICMIF Young Leaders Programme will take place in 2024 at the Federation’s Biennial Conference in Buenos Aires (Argentina) on 12-15 November.

This unique programme is designed for young, emerging professionals, generally aged between 18 and 35, from mutual, cooperative and member-owned insurers, who have been recognised as strong candidates to become future leaders within their organisations. The programme provides participants with the opportunity to join the full ICMIF Conference at a discounted rate, whilst also engaging in exclusive sessions and networking events tailored to cater to their interests and enhance their professional development.

The previous three Young Leaders Programmes were held alongside the ICMIF Biennial Conferences in London (UK) in 2017; Auckland (New Zealand) in 2019; and Rome (Italy) in 2022. In total, more than 170 Young Leaders from 62 member companies in 24 countries have taken part in this unique programme. The previous events received excellent feedback from both Young Leaders and the senior managers who had selected them to attend the programme.

The Young Leaders who participate in the 2024 Programme in Buenos Aries will have the chance to learn from and collaborate with peers at other ICMIF member companies and also enjoy the chance to network with CEOs, senior executives, industry leaders and key external influencers from around the world. The programme will provide an excellent opportunity for ICMIF members to both develop and reward their younger, high-potential employees, exposing them to wider issues impacting the insurance industry, strategic best-practice, and mutuality on a global scale.

The Young Leaders Programme includes:

  • Exclusive breakfast sessions for young leaders before the start of the main plenary sessions of the ICMIF Conference, featuring roundtable discussions with a number of invited ICMIF members’ CEOs.
  • A private welcome reception and other networking events designed for young leaders only.
  • Full access to all plenary sessions and social events of the conference, where young leaders have the chance to learn from and network with CEOs and senior leaders.
  • The possibility of being selected as a speaker in a conference plenary session.
  • A 50% discount on the full conference delegate fee.

"The Young Leaders Programme has been super beneficial to my development so far. The Programme is a great way of networking with other young leaders but also sparking ideas and innovation that can be shared back with your company. The most impactful event I’ve attended was the CEO breakfast session at the last conference. Being able to ask highly respected leaders questions and have open and honest conversations in a non-competitive environment was such a unique and empowering experience."

“The Young Leaders Programme was a privilege to be a part of. Supplementary sessions for the Young Leaders Programme were well thought out and enabled me to get the most out of the event both in regards to networking with other leaders from around the globe, and the content of the main conference sessions.”

Dan Hamilton
Senior Pricing Analyst, FMG (New Zealand)

“The Young Leaders Programme was a great experience to share insights and experiences with cooperative and mutual companies in the ICMIF network and with similar young . The most impressive moment was the possibility to join the ICMIF Biennial Conference in Rome. It was energising and gave me an urgent feeling of how we can contribute towards a more sustainable environment. A special moment for me was the roundtable breakfast session with CEOs where we exchanged lots of information about strategy, transformation and our cooperative roots.”

“Participating in the Young Leaders Programme was an extremely enriching experience, both on a personal and professional level. Together with colleagues from all over the world, we were able to address different challenges that affect our business globally and share each other’s expectations and strategies regarding them. Contact with young people from other countries allowed us to see different perspectives in similar situations and develop good practices for our industry.”
